The built-in rechargeable battery provides up to 10 hours of continuous playback at moderate volume under supported conditions. Actual battery life for a used speaker may be lower depending on its age, listening volume, wireless connection, settings and previous charging history.

An IP67 waterproof and dustproof rating helps protect the speaker during outdoor use. Sonos states that it can withstand submersion in up to one metre of water for as long as 30 minutes under controlled test conditions. Water resistance is not permanent and may decrease because of previous damage, wear or repairs.

The Roam 2 can be charged through its USB-C port using a compatible power adapter. It also supports the Sonos Roam Wireless Charger and compatible Qi-certified wireless chargers, which are normally sold separately.

Physical buttons allow you to adjust volume, play or pause audio, skip or replay tracks, control the microphones, pair a Bluetooth device and manage power. The speaker also supports Apple AirPlay 2 over Wi-Fi and compatible voice-control services, although availability may vary according to country, language, account and connected services.
